N.908 - Pio Monte della Misericordia

The first issue of a project that is especially meaningful to us, created in collaboration with the Pio Monte della Misericordia, which has been dedicated to supporting the most vulnerable members of society since 1602. This cover is a tribute to the Foundation and its monumental headquarters, where art and social commitment coexist: what is preserved and celebrated through the museum and its cultural activities is transformed into resources and initiatives for inclusion, care, and assistance. In Allegra Memoli’s illustration, a seventeenth-century perspective axis opens onto the side staircase leading to the Naples Cathedral and continues through the Obelisk of San Gennaro in Piazza Riario Sforza, before culminating at the headquarters of the Pio Monte della Misericordia. The axis reaches its completion in the chapel that houses one of the most powerful images of the Neapolitan Baroque: the Seven Works of Mercy by Caravaggio, a visual synthesis of the institution’s mission and values.
