N.908 - Pio Monte della Misericordia

The first issue of a project close to our hearts, created with the Pio Monte della Misericordia, which has supported the most vulnerable since 1602. The cover pays tribute to the Foundation and its monumental palace, where art and social commitment live side by side: what the museum and its cultural activities bring to life becomes resources for inclusion and care. In Allegra Memoli's illustration, a seventeenth-century perspective axis opens onto the side staircase of the Cathedral, runs past the Obelisk of San Gennaro in Piazza Riario Sforza and ends at the Pio Monte. It culminates in the chapel that holds one of the most powerful images of the Neapolitan Baroque, Caravaggio's Seven Works of Mercy: a visual synthesis of the institution's mission.
