N.103 - Geometrie di Memoria

Ilaria Marzano’s illustration centers on the ENEL tower in Naples’ Centro Direzionale, with its capsule elevators and façade patterned like a checkerboard of glass. More than an architectural tribute, it explores the complex relationship between the tower and its surroundings. The building emerges from a map that intertwines historic districts with the vanished landscape of marshes and fields, replaced by the business district project. Multiple cities are evoked: the lost one of land and water, the planned one imposed as a vision of the future, and the evolving one still searching for new directions. The contrast between black and white, solids and voids, rigid geometries and fluid lines reflects the soul of Naples, a constant tension between past and future, chaos and design, roots and vision.
