In Marechiaro, a small fishing village overlooking the Gulf of Naples, there is a seemingly ordinary window that holds a magical story. Salvatore Di Giacomo was inspired by this fenestrella to create what became one of the most famous Neapolitan songs in Italy and around the world, "Marechiare." In Cristina Damiani's illustration, the fenestrella and the stunning red carnation that inspired the poet in 1885 are depicted: a tribute to the unconditional love that permeates his entire composition.
