A woman from Palermo enters a pastry shop in Naples and asks, "One sfogliatella, please." Unaware that her choice would not be so simple, she is faced with the ultimate question—the challenge of all challenges: "Riccia or Frolla?" In an instant, she imagines a multi-directional assault of sweetness, with sfogliatelle of both types arriving from every direction. In the end, she makes her choice—and from that moment on, she never changes it… at least until her next return. The illustration depicts an iconic Neapolitan scene, with three people seated in what appears to be a café or outdoor terrace overlooking the sea. They wear summer hats and are enjoying coffee and sfogliatelle, which float in the sky like stylized clouds.
