N.909 - Le sette opere della misericordia

Reinterpreting a seventeenth-century masterpiece such as The Seven Works of Mercy by Caravaggio is not a responsibility entrusted lightly. We are deeply grateful to the Pio Monte della Misericordia for recognizing the work we have been carrying forward over the past four years and for entrusting us with one of the most ambitious projects we could have imagined. In the original painting, Caravaggio brings together all seven acts of mercy in a single nocturnal scene, reflecting the charitable mission of the Pio Monte della Misericordia. Four centuries later, together with Giovanni Abeille, we have reimagined them through our own visual language, celebrating the Foundation's ongoing commitment by placing these acts in a contemporary context: supporting families, promoting access to employment, education, and healthcare, and standing alongside anyone facing vulnerability or hardship. The magnitude of the original work led us toward a more conceptual approach, deliberately moving away from figurative representation and any impossible comparison with Caravaggio's canvas, while preserving the timeless resonance of its message. Nothing has changed: there are still those in need, and those who answer the call.
